All Saints Stand Whitefield Wedding Photography
There was so much to love about the wedding day of Susan and Jonathan. I rarely do weddings outside of London and the South East nowadays, so it was a pleasure to travel up to my parent’s hometown of Bury to photograph a wedding. Susan got prepared for her big day at their house, and the laid-back atmosphere really helped me capture some lovely little moments here and there.

The wedding itself was at All Saints Stand church in Whitefield. Wow, what a church! I believe this was designed by the architect Sir Charles Barry, and it was actually his first commission. Barry would later in his life go on to rebuild the Houses of Parliament including Big Ben after the fires in 1834, so this church has a real claim to fame! Both internally and externally this church was amazing, so it gave me lots of options before, during and after the ceremony. I would also like to point out that I captured some of my favourite photos of the year after the ceremony when the guests were congratulating the Bride & Groom, scroll down to have a look. Hugs are what weddings are all about!
After the ceremony, everyone went off to the reception at The Stables in Bury. The outside space that Susan and Jonathan had set up with games, music and cake for both children and adults to enjoy alike, was simply fantastic and was a documentary photographer’s dream. The giant Jenga alone had me transfixed, as capturing that point when it’s just falling along with everyone’s reaction is fantastic!
After the day, Susan and Jonathan were kind enough to leave these words for me
“MBH photography did our wedding last summer. We called upon him after our first photographer let us down causing myself considerable angst! It was only when MBH stepped in that I realised how unprofessional the first photographer was. As never using a professional photographer before I was unsure as what to expect.
From the initial meeting whereby we went together to both the church and the venue to discuss shots (the first photographer didn't do this - simply she jotted down notes in the pub near her house she wanted to meet me in!). Then came the contracts. Very professional, timely and put my mind at rest that we were properly booked in. As a bride these stages are important as weddings are stressful and knowing things are being done properly does put your mind at ease.
Then finally on the day. Matthew was everything you would want from documentary style photographer. As in you never knew he was there but behind the scenes he was taking beautiful photographs. And what beautiful photographs he took! Everyone has commented on them. They really capture the day. I wanted a very particular style in that I didn't want 'staged' photographs. I wanted natural moments captured. And that's what he did. I received hundreds of photographs all digitally perfect. Some photographers tinker with the lighting and colours too much. Not MBH. They were all true to life, crystal clear, well shot photographs. I wouldn't hesitate recommending him to anyone.”
